The first step is to make sure that the computer you are using has a video output such as VGA, DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort. These are going to be on the back of your computer or the side of your laptop and will look like one of these:
Next, you'll want to pick one connection to use to connect the monitor. You'll want to use DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI depending on circumstances for the best quality. VGA can still be used, but it is the oldest and least advanced of the ports available.
You will then want to use either one of the supplied cables that came with the monitor, or one of your own to connect it. Make sure you choose a port that your monitor offers or the purchase of an adapter may be necessary. Connect the monitor by inserting the desired cable into the port on the back of the monitor and connect the other end to the computer. Connect power to the monitor as well. Do NOT connect multiple video cables to the same computer - this will not work correctly. After the monitor is connected to both power and the computer, turn both the monitor and the computer on. This will be plug and play, and installing drivers will not be necessary.
If you used either
DisplayPort or HDMI, you will need to manually change the input on the monitor to the desired choice. This is done through the monitor's menu, which can be accessed by pressing one of the buttons on the monitor as long as the monitor is not asleep or off.
After you've done this, you should be good to go! Depending on your specific setup, you may need to access your computers resolution settings to change whether the monitor is in Extended or Duplicate mode. The duplicate mode can often mean that the monitor is running below its recommended resolution, as the computer will use the resolution of the lowest resolution device for both screens.
